NIS Assures of Availability of Passport Booklets

The attention of the Comptroller General of Immigration Service , Muhammad Babandede, MFR has been drawn to some media reports of persisting scarcity of Passports Booklets across our Passport Issuing Centre.

It has become important to state here that there is no scarcity of Passport Booklets across all our Issuing Centres in Nigeria and abroad. It would be recalled that sometimes on 2nd March this year, the Service did inform the public about a shortfall in the supply of Passport Booklets in our system. The situation has since been resolved following government's intervention and normalcy has been restored in all the Issuing Centres as contained in our notices to the public.

Court orders Police IG to pay N4 million for violation of right

A Federal Capital Territory High Court, Maitama, on Monday ordered the Inspector-General of Police to pay N1 million each to four men for violation of their fundamental right.

Scores injured in Kaduna clashes

Calm has returned to Kaduna after clashes early Monday left many injured, residents say.

One witness said three people were killed, but that could not be confirmed.

Witnesses said the clashes took place in the Kabala West Nariya and Umuazu communities, and almost degenerated into a religious crisis between Christians and Muslims.

“Kaduna is a very funny state, I live in this area and we all live together (as) Muslims and Christians, but easily a small fight between friends can escalate to become a religious fight,” one resident said.

Judge stops Chief Registrar from transferring criminal case

An Akure High Court has barred the Chief Registrar of the Ondo State Judiciary, Mr Anthony Akinrinsola from transferring a criminal case pending before a Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Akure to Ondo judicial division.

The Court presided over by Justice Aderemi Adegoroye, in dismissing the appeal filed by Bimbo Akinsehinwa, Aderonke Gbadamosi, Akinsira Usijola, Kofoworola James and Ganiyat Itunu directed the Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Akure to continue with the trail of the accused persons.
